Stephen Matechak

Stephen Matechak is a rising senior at Freedom High School in South Riding. He is passionate about biology, chemistry, medical science, and music. Stephen is a member of five honor societies including the National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, National English Honor Society, and the Tri-M Music Honor Society. Stephen has won various national scholarship awards for his original piano and saxophone compositions. His dedication is evident through his participation and leadership in the Spirit of Freedom Marching Band, jazz band, and various chamber ensembles. Stephen will be the Drum Major for the upcoming 2023 marching band season. In the classroom, he currently serves as a teacher appointed peer tutor in Freedom’s Academic Support Center. Having attended previous summer programs at Fairfax Collegiate as a young student, Stephen is prepared to bring his academic passion and enthusiasm to the classroom this summer!
