Where do you attend school, and what what are you studying?

I attend Virginia Tech and am studying Biomedical Engineering, and I have been on the Dean’s List with distinction my entire time so far. I am currently a member of Virginia Tech’s chapter of Theta Tau, a professional engineering fraternity. Additionally, I graduated high school on the Dean’s List with distinction as well as being a member of numerous honors societies.

What have your teaching opportunities been outside of Fairfax Collegiate?

I have been a private tutor for the past year, focusing on mentoring students in Math with personalized teaching. Additionally, I have volunteered in many teaching roles as well; I was a Teacher’s Assistant for my weekend Chinese School, a chemistry tutor at my high school, and had coached volleyball with Mclean Youth Volleyball for 3 years.

What sort of experience have you had in the subject you’ll be teaching this summer?

With my major focus being Biomedical Engineering, this past year I have taken many engineering based courses, often with a focus in problem solving. Additionally I have completed mathematics as high as Multivariable Calculus, Linear Algebra, and Differential Equations, as well as both Physics 1 and 2 l, and Statics. In high school I attended the National Student Leadership Conference in Biotechnology, got a 5 on the AP Biology exam, and took an Intro into Biotechnology course where I received the Biotechnology Assistant Certification.

What excites you about teaching and working with students?

I love learning, and new things never cease to excite me. So being able to share that joy, especially in a subject that someone might not currently like, will always be such an amazing thing for me!

Outside of work, what are some hobbies you enjoy?

I love arts and crafts, sports and playing games. Currently my house is filled with over a hundred paintings, mini models, and book-nooks (with more in the making). I also love to play pickleball, volleyball, and going to the gym when my schedule permits. Additionally, I am a big fan of games such as Catan, Portal, Minecraft and Pokémon. Ultimately, I am a fan of a lot of things so if there is something you would like to chat about, just let me know!
