Where do you attend school, and what what are you studying?
I currently attend Christopher Newport University, where I am majoring in Psychology with minors in Leadership Studies and Childhood Studies. In addition to my academic coursework, I am a Division III softball player and have earned a place on the Dean’s List every semester.
What have your teaching opportunities been outside of Fairfax Collegiate?
In college, I have worked as a peer tutor for Spanish and Art History courses. Through tutoring, I have developed strong communication skills and learned how to adapt my teaching style to meet different students’ learning needs. In high school, I founded my school's peer tutoring center.
What sort of experience have you had in the subject you’ll be teaching this summer?
I am passionate about science and writing and have taken several advanced courses in both areas, including multiple AP classes in high school and have continued to build my academic skills through college-level research experience. These experiences have strengthened my analytical thinking, communication, and writing abilities.
What excites you about teaching and working with students?
What excites me most about teaching is the opportunity to help students build valuable skills in an engaging and supportive environment. I enjoy creating fun learning experiences that not only help students succeed academically, but also give them skills they can apply later in school and throughout their lives.
Outside of work, what are some hobbies you enjoy?
Outside of work and school, I enjoy coaching softball, which has strengthened my leadership and mentorship skills. I also volunteer with a variety of community organizations, including Serve the City Peninsula and enjoy giving back through service and mentorship opportunities.
