Where do you attend school and what activities are you involved in?

I attended Virginia Commonwealth University where I received my Bachelor’s in Psychology, with a minor in Anthropology and Summa Cum Laude honors. During my undergraduate studies, I was a part of a globally-focused program that involved volunteering and taking courses at the university, through which I received a Global Education and Peace Corps Prep certificate upon completion. This also inspired my endeavor to study abroad, which I went on to do during my sophomore year. I was also both a research intern and volunteer in two Psychology labs that focused on children and families, and the experiences of underrepresented communities. In Fall 2025, I will begin a Master’s in Public Relations and Corporate Communications at Georgetown University.

What have your teaching opportunities been outside of Fairfax Collegiate?

I currently work as a VALLSS Tutor at Prince William County Schools, and have done so since 2023. As a VALLSS Tutor, I work with K-3 students to teach and reinforce phonological, spelling, and reading skills and concepts.

What sort of experience have you had in the subject you’ll be teaching this summer?

I am a VALLSS (Virginia Language and Literacy Screening System) Tutor and I work with elementary students on their writing, reading, and spelling skills. As an undergraduate student, I wrote literature reviews and many research papers so I am very well versed in writing and all of its components!

What excites you about teaching and working with students?

I absolutely love seeing and hearing the moment that students understand and learn a concept! Seeing the confidence and excitement they build throughout the year as they learn is something that I truly enjoy.

Outside of work, what are some hobbies you enjoy?

I love to read, and I am challenging myself to read more books than I did last year! I also enjoy visiting and traveling to new places with my sister and friends, whether that is in my own city or beyond!
