Where do you attend school, and what what are you studying?
I'm currently attending Herndon High School. My coursework has a focus on sciences: biology, anatomy, and medicine. I've taken consecutive marketing courses and completed 3 years of French. I’m the vice president of my school’s medical club, and I’m part of the Science National Honors Society. I’ve received AB Honor Roll certificates all four years of high school.
What have your teaching opportunities been outside of Fairfax Collegiate?
I have experience teaching reading and math to children ages 5-13 from tutoring at Kumon as a center assistant. I’ve tutored high school students on biology and physics, ages 14-18. I’ve assisted in informal educational events at my local library and covered subjects including history, art, and ecology for ages 6-12.
What sort of experience have you had in the subject you’ll be teaching this summer?
I’m not teaching a specific class, but my classes have a strong focus in biological sciences. I’m currently in a Duel Enrollment English class and have completed AP Calculus AB. I’ve taken consecutive marketing classes and given a presentation in front of Fairfax County’s community service board. I’m well versed in medical terminology through a number of classes and attended a program for teens' mental health at the county’s government center.
What excites you about teaching and working with students?
I’ve always been around children, at home, through volunteering, at my place of work, and I love working with them. It’s exciting to see them ask questions, learn, and grow. It makes me incredibly proud to see their improvement over time and see what sparks their curiosity and enthusiasm.
Outside of work, what are some hobbies you enjoy?
I do art and crafts, creative writing, and digital art commissions.
