I am a mechanical engineering student at North Carolina A&T State University.
What have your teaching opportunities been outside of Fairfax Collegiate?During the summer of 2023 I was a camp counselor for Bricks For Kidz, a STEM based Lego camp where I taught kids ages 4-10 about various engineering concepts including gears, pulleys, levers, sensors, motors, etc. through the use of Legos.
What sort of experience have you had in the subject you’ll be teaching this summer?I have partaken in a summer camp where I learned the craft of live action filmmaking. Therefore I am well versed in that area which allows me to have a good foundation when it comes to claymation and stop-motion animation.
I took a 3D Modeling class (Into to Engineering & Design) in my Junior year of high school through the Project Lead The Way program where I learned how to use Fusion 360. During my first semester of college I took a Intro to Tech Design class in which I learned how to use Solidworks 3D.
I took a class in my Junior year of High School in which I learned how to code and build various robotic components with vex parts to solve various problems and complete various challenges.
What excites you about teaching and working with students?I love sharing my passions with other people so they can potentially experience the joy and fun I have when indulging in them. Particularly when it comes to kids/students, who most likely don't know exactly what they want to do when they're older, I feel I can inspire that spark of interest with regards to engineering, writing, and some of my other hobbies.
Outside of work, what are some hobbies you enjoy?Go-karting, Rubik's cubes, hiking, bike riding, cooking, soccer, tennis, and basketball.
