Prepare for the PSAT, the qualifying test for the National Merit Scholar program.
The math review covers algebraic expressions and equations, graphical representations, statistics, and strategies for both the calculator and no-calculator portions of the test. The reading/writing review emphasizes grammar and mechanics, locating information, making inferences, and analyzing rhetoric.
Students take two full-length practice exams outside of class to become familiar with the test format and types of questions, and as a way to measure their growth over the progress of the class. In-class time is used for shorter practice sets, learning test-taking and time management strategies, and reviewing content. Instructors write evaluations with remarks summarizing the student's successes and challenges.

Please note: this course follows the same curriculum as the PSAT-NMSQT Prep course that was available in the Fairfax Collegiate Summer Program.
