Crush the New Digital SAT

The Digital SAT

The College Board has updated the SAT to be digital in 2024. With this change comes a new test format, question styles, and strategies for success on the SAT. These changes can be overwhelming for students, especially those who have already prepared for the paper-and-pencil version which is now obsolete.

This informs how our course is designed: we provide up-to-date information about the new digital SAT and work with students to develop strategies and strengthen content knowledge so they can crush the SAT on Test Day.

The Course

Class time is evenly divided between the Reading and Writing and the Math sections of the SAT. Students take two practice tests outside of class to gauge their progress, and during class they complete practice problems to solidify their understanding of the different question types on the SAT. Families must purchase The Official Digital SAT Study Guide, published by the College Board, which is available on their website and at major retailers.

Reading and Writing

  • Information and Ideas - Understanding a passage's central idea and details
  • Craft and Structure - Exploring why authors write in a particular way
  • Expression of Ideas - Learning how to best revise a text to achieve a particular goal
  • Standard English Conventions - Reviewing and learning grammar rules to correctly edit written work

Math

  • Algebra - Solving linear equations and inequalities, plus systems of equations
  • Advanced Math - Understanding how the SAT tests knowledge of quadratic functions
  • Problem-Solving and Data Analysis - Interpreting and manipulating percentages, graphs, and probability
  • Geometry and Trigonometry - Reviewing formulas regarding area, volume, triangles, and circles
