Juliann Boyles

In May 2009, Juliann Boyles graduated Magna Cum-Laude from the University of Mary Washington with a BA in History and a minor in musical performance. In December 2009, she earned her teaching license in Secondary History and Social Studies, after completing her student teaching in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, instructing AP United States History and US/VA History. As an educator, she has had a wide array of teaching experiences. For the past five years, she has worked as a substitute teacher in Manassas City Public Schools, teaching all subjects and grades, pre-k through 12. For three summers, Juliann served as the Technology Director at Camp Olmsted of the Boys Scouts’ Goshen Scout Reservation. As the Technology Director, she not only managed the center, but taught a wide array of merit badge classes from Nuclear Science and Communications to Computers and Journalism. Juliann has also served as the Waterfront Manager for the Girl Scouts’ Camp May Flather, teaching hundreds of girls the art of canoeing.

In addition to teaching, Juliann has a real love for the performing arts. Currently, she performs as a cellist with the University of Mary Washington Philharmonic. Juliann has also been actively involved in community theater in Manassas. She has performed with the Center for the Arts Pit Orchestra, appeared as an actor in various musical theater and Shakespearean productions, and most recently, has served as a theater teacher, directing children in musical theater productions. This is Juliann’s first summer with Fairfax Collegiate and she looks forward to teaching classes in Filmmaking, Digital Journalism, and Elementary and Middle School Debate.
